Fresh vegetables and green leaves

Healthy plants communicate through small changes long before dramatic failure. Leaves are the most useful surface to read because they respond quickly to water, light, nutrition, and pests.

Start with the newest growth

New leaves show current conditions. Pale new growth often points toward light or nutrient imbalance, while older yellowing leaves can be a normal part of aging.

Check posture and texture

Soft drooping leaves usually suggest water stress, but the answer depends on soil moisture. Dry soil points toward thirst; wet soil points toward root stress.

Use multiple signals

One symptom is rarely enough. Combine leaf color, soil feel, recent weather, and the plant's normal seasonal pattern before changing care.
